How the Workplace Lab works.

Not watch, quiz, certificate. Your simulated employer sends you a brief and the files. You do the work in the software the job uses, submit it, and a facilitator tells you whether it meets the standard. Every task adds to a portfolio you can show.

Facilitator feedback

An example Workplace Lab task: the brief, the files, the submission and the feedback. Facilitator names and dates are not shown.

Learn. Do. Prove.

  1. Learn

    The task needs it

You learn the process and the tool because the task in front of you needs them. Knowledge is taught in the order the work needs it.

  2. Do

    In real software

A brief, the files, a deadline. Excel, a CRM, a project board, accounting software: the tools the job uses.

  3. Prove

    Assessed, recorded, verifiable

A facilitator assesses the work against the NIBS standard. Competent results go on your Skills Passport with a credential id anyone can check.

Where the Lab lives.

The Workplace Lab is part of NIBS Campus. When your first pathway opens, your tasks appear there and your link appears in your campus. If you study at an e-Learning Cafe, the facilitator in the room can help you find your way around, but the assessment is always against the same NIBS standard.
